Helping him with his anger issues, Joseph (Peter Mullan) develops a friendship with charity shop worker Hannah (Olivia Coleman), who through her faith, helps him understand that he is loved by someone. However, despite early hope, it is soon uncovered that Hannah is hiding a secret that could put both of their lives at risk. In return for her support, Joseph help¡¯s Hannah deal with her issue, despite the risk that it carries. The first directing role of actor Paddy Considine, it deals with several sensitive topics such as poverty, abuse and religion through powerful and moving scenes that capture the devastating nature of their situation. Brilliant and emotional, this film fully captures how people deal with grief by creating an environment of rage and unhappiness.
